Mailchimp Integration
Automatically sync contest entrants to your Mailchimp audience. When someone enters your contest, they are added to your mailing list instantly.
What You'll Need
Before connecting, gather these three things from your Mailchimp account:
API Key
Mailchimp -> Account -> Extras -> API keys -> Create key. Copy the full key (for example: xxxxxxxxx-us1).
Server Prefix
This is the suffix in your API key. If your key ends with -us1, your server prefix is us1.
Audience ID (List ID)
Audience -> Manage Audience -> Settings -> Audience name and defaults. Copy Audience ID.
Connecting to Your Promotion
Follow these steps to connect Mailchimp to your promotion:
Open your promotion in the HPRS dashboard
Go to the Email Integration section
Click Connect Mailchimp
Enter API key, server prefix, and audience ID
Select the audience to sync subscribers to
Save your settings
Set it and forget it: You only need to connect once per contest. New entrants sync automatically to the selected audience.
What Happens When Someone Enters
When a participant submits their email:
- They are added to your selected Mailchimp audience
- They are tagged with source and contest metadata
- Existing subscribers are updated instead of duplicated
Automatic Tagging
HPRS applies tags/fields to support segmentation:
Source Identifier
hprs
Contest Tag
contest-your-contest-name
Entry Tag
contest-entry
Name Fields
FNAME / LNAME when available
Double Opt-in
If your audience uses double opt-in, subscribers receive a confirmation email before full subscription.
This is controlled in Mailchimp audience settings, not in HPRS.
Troubleshooting
API key not working?
Generate a fresh API key and ensure your server prefix is correct.
Audience not found?
Confirm audience ID in Mailchimp and reconnect with the correct value.
Subscribers not appearing?
Submit a new test entry and allow a short sync delay.
